The O'Doggy's story is not for the faint of heart. It's roots begin with job loss and despair. If you don't know our story, read it here : OUR STORY
You watched as we grew into a small concession trailer last February. We added our fenced eating area, and our awning too.
Now, we're moving indoors... not far from our current location. As a matter of fact, it's 3 blocks north on Rolla St.
It's the "community" atmosphere that we've loved most about O'Doggy's. With that I mean... it's YOU that we've loved most about O'Doggy's, and we want to grab hold of that atmosphere with our storefront.
It's the outdoor aspect that draws you to O'Doggy's? Well, we're working on that too. We'll be adding a serving window for walk up service outside.
We'll be revealing the progress as it happens, so you can be as excited as we are. Scared, but excited! Thanks for being a part of something that has given us hope, and grown friendships, right here in Rolla Missouri.
Love to serve,
Cory & Susan
You may remember us sharing with you about a family last Summer that was celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary with renewed vows and a visit to our O'Doggy's cart. We were honored that they chose us to be a part of the celebration!
You may also remember us sharing a video of their youngest, Sophie, singing her ode to O'Doggy's... which we claimed as our new jingle.
We now have something else to share... not something we smile about, but something O'Doggy's supports more than you know. This January, Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has a blog worth visiting. In her words, she is blogging "so other women, family and friends could see a real perspective into the life of cancer. Not just what I am experiencing, but what others may experience or see loved ones experience themselves"
We would like to share her blog with you. http://takingitfromthetop.com/2013/02/15/odoggys/
You may also remember that O'Doggy's has a team for the Relay for Life. I think we can all agree that cancer stinks! If you would like to be a member of our team, and be a part of the 2013 Relay, please contact us through facebook, email, or a visit in person.
You see, all of you are more than customers... you are friends and family.
Thanks for being a part of our lives,
Cory, Susan, and Josh
Hot dogs spark creativity... What? Yes, you heard me right. Hot dogs make people want to sing and dance. They just have a way of getting those creative juices flowing. They may even inspire a painting or sculpture. You don't believe me? Let me just share a few examples.
Although we've only been on the streets for a few months, we have been fortunate enough to meet some great people. People like YOU. People with many talents. People of all ages willing to share their talent with O'Doggy's.
O'Doggy's Fan Writes a Jingle
It started with our first fan submitted video. This young lady was so inspired by hot dogs at O'Doggy's that she wrote her own jingle. Quite catchy if you ask me. Her mother writes, "Ever since we left yesterday after our Anniversary lunch my little one will not stop singing about O'Doggy's. I finally caught it on tape. Enjoy;)" We most certainly did enjoy this!
Aspiring Balloon Artist Wishes Me a Happy Birthday
We had someone that wanted to wish me a happy birthday inspired by our new business... can't you just see the creativity? Another example of how our days get brighter and brighter. We can't help but smile!
Listen to the Weenie Man Song at O'Doggy's
Just this week, we had another fan that couldn't help singing when she seen our stand. We really do love our job!
Starving Artist + O'Doggy's = Well Fed Artist
So maybe you've been inspired... maybe, just maybe you would like to honor O'Doggy's by submitting some artwork or a video of a song. Feel free to email it to us, or stop by the cart and we would be more than happy to display your talents for all to see. You may just be the next internet sensation. At the very least, O'Doggy's would like to make our "starving" artists into "well fed" artists. Stop by and say hello, and if you feel inspired, let the creativity shine!
Don't worry, it's not Christmas yet, or even my birthday, but gifts have been given on a regular basis at the O'Doggy's cart. What am I talking about? I'm talking about a phenomenon that started a week after we opened for business.
It began when we had a customer stop by the cart that wanted to pay for the next four O'Doggy's value meals. No strings attached, just to bless those next customers with a free meal. As the next customers showed up, and one by one received their gift from the anonymous giver, their faces showed the surprise. We were met with words of "why would someone do that"?, to "are you serious"?, and "that's awesome"!
Week after week this continues. Single and multiple meals are paid for in advance. We met a couple that had been having a bad day. A flat tire fixed that morning, low on funds, and stopped for a quick bite to eat before moving on. They were hit with a free meal given by a previous customer. Did it pay for their tire or put money in their bank? No, but it did brighten their spirits when things seemed to be on a downward spiral. A U-turn that spun them around, picked them up, and sent them back in the right direction.
We've had instances where a meal was going to be shared, but instead were able to get two meals. People counting change to buy a single hot dog blessed with a whole meal. College students out on their own for the first time are met with the kindness of someone they don't even know.
Hot dog gifting is contagious. People want to be involved in something like this. We have "gifters" each week, and a lot of them are new to the "movement". Okay, so maybe it's not a "movement", but it does have an impact on those that give, and receive. I do believe though that the biggest impact has been on us here at O'Doggy's. We are humbled that you would choose to use our business to help others, and that you would let us be the instrument to carry it out.
It seems that the gift of hot dogs is indeed a gift that keeps on giving.

As remnants of hurricane Isaac arrive here in Missouri, I'm struck with the realization that this is our first day off due to rain. I say "day off", but in fact it gives us a chance to perform some maintenance, and work on some intriguing recipes. I'm excited about the coming weeks as we add a grill to our setup, and introduce some new flavors to our customers.
We would love to be out there serving you today, but until we get a water weenie like the one pictured, we're just going to have to wait.
